Intended purpose
Overview — The AI Summary Generator on the Scottish Government's Pathways digital learning platform creates concise, AI-generated summaries for a range of content types, including PDFs, articles, videos and learning pathways.
How it is used — For items such as PDFs, pathways hosted on the platform, articles and videos with an uploaded transcript, a "Summarise" button is available. Selecting it provides users with an automatically generated summary of the content. Summaries are generated exclusively through OpenAI and Gemini using anonymised, scoped data.
Human oversight — The tool is GDPR compliant and operates within an ISO 27001-certified infrastructure. Customer data is never used to train the AI models, and all interactions are logged and auditable.
